Es el director del Centro Nacional de Supercomputación- Barcelona Supercomputing Center- Tiene alrededor de 700 publicaciones y ha colaborado en la organización de más de 300 conferencias internacionales e impartido más de 400 ponencias.

Prof. Andrei Tchernykh is engaged in an extensive research on grid and cloud research addressing resource optimi-zation, both, theoretical and experimental, security, uncertainty, scheduling, multi-objective optimization, heu-ristics and meta-heuristics, adaptive resource allocation, energy-aware algorithms and Internet of Things (

Dra.Rosa M. Badia holds a PhD on Computer Science (1994) from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC).  She is the manager of the Workflows and Distributed Computing research group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC).  She is also a Scientific Researcher from the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC). She was involved in teaching and research activities at the UPC from 1989 to 2008, where she was an Associated Professor since year 1997. From 1999 to 2005 she was involved in research and development activities at the European Center of Parallelism of Barcelona (CEPBA). 

Daniel Gruner, SciNet HPC Consortium, University of Toronto


Daniel Gruner is the Chief Technical Officer at the SciNet High Performance Computing Consortium at the University of Toronto.  SciNet runs the largest academic computer systems in Canada.  Daniel has more than thirty years' experience in computational science and scientific computing, working with a variety of programming languages, parallel computing, scientific modelling, software architecture, windowing system GUI programming, administration of large Beowulf clusters and large shared-memory parallel computers, system administration, and networking.

He is Professor at the University of Luxembourg since 2003, and was its Vice-President during 10 years after having been the dean of its faculty of law, economics and finance. As vice-president, he was in charge of the conceptual organization of the new campus of the University in Belval (the largest real-estate project of the country, ca. 1 Bn €), organization, international relations and rankings. Before coming to Luxembourg, he previously held academic positions in France (CNRS Paris, University Joseph Fourier Grenoble), and in Germany (Max Planck-Institut für Mathematik Bonn, Technische Universität Berlin). He holds a PhD and a Habilitation in Mathematics.

As chief of the Advanced Computing Branch, William (Bill) Thigpen manages staff and activities for key system development efforts—most recently, deploying a prototype module, named Electra, in our new Modular Supercomputing Facility (MSF)—to significantly reduce the water and power required to cool today’s supercomputers and provide more computing capability to NAS users.
